Pauline Maudy (MZAZA) is an accomplished French-Australian vocalist and songwriter who weaves the human experience into soulful songs, conjuring melodies and lyrics that delve into hardship, strength and connection In Watching the Stars, she was joined by Peta Leigh Wilson, celebrated accompanist, musical director and creator of recording project ‘Coco Hue’ and celebrated Australian double bassist and composer Robert Davidson (Topology), known for blending classical, jazz, and contemporary influences in his innovative music.
Early in 2025, Pauline and Peta undertook a residency at Harrigans Lane, where they drew upon the local history and natural environment to inspire their songwriting. In Watching the Stars they performed these songs live for the first time. They also shared a collection of Pauline’s songs and their shared repertoire, including a selection from her acclaimed show Take Me to Paris, and from Pauline’s collaboration with Robert, which premiered at Brisbane Festival 2024.
Pauline’s work has been recognised through the Australian Folk Music Artist of the Year Award (2023), the Lord Mayor’s Fellowship (2024), and three Queensland Music Awards for Best Song (World). She regularly tours in Australia and Europe with her ensemble MZAZA and under her own name, undertaking a breadth of exciting musical and cross-cultural collaborations.
